A fantastic addition to the all-too-small catalog of recordings by Jay Bolotin – a Kentucky songwriter whose compositions were recorded by bigger names down in Nashville, even if Jay never fully got his due! "Many Happy Returns", and "Ask Me No Questions". LP, Vinyl record album. Kevin Ayers — Rainbow Takeaway/ That's What You Get.

A very unique project from musician/ filmmaker/ theorist Michael Snow – not sounds of his own creation, but more of a collage of unusual music from around the globe – presented in a spirit that definitely fits the title! Oddly, when the record was created in the 80s, it was also seen as a swan song to the vinyl LP too – something that never came to pass – and, as well, efforts like.

The group's name means "village people" in their native Java – but the sound here is way different than the big disco act of the time! Instead, Kelompok Kampungan have this earthy fusion of native instrumentation and folksy rock modes – a hypnotic blend that's served up on a wide array of instruments that includes bits of gamelon, percussion violin, flute, gong, cello, and electric guitar!

Jay Bolotin is one of the great ‘what-if’s of the American songbook. A singer-songwriter contemporaneous with Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, Bolotin’s work is known to be admired by artists including Kris Kristofferson and Merle Haggard.

A fantastic addition to the all-too-small catalog of recordings by Jay Bolotin – a Kentucky songwriter whose compositions were recorded by bigger names down in Nashville, even if Jay never fully got his due! Bolotin is hardly country, though – much more a songpoet, in the manner of Leonard Cohen – who definitely might be a good reference point here, given the darker qualities in both Jay.
